In 2013, I partnered with Burrit Bros to create rugs inspired by my paintings. I have three rug lines: one about the ocean, one about the human form, and one about the mountains. They are hand-knotted in Nepal with Chinese Silk and Himalayan Wool.

Over Oceans

My debut rug collection began as an abstract painting depicting two divided masses coming together has been recontextualized into a critically acclaimed collection of functional, everyday pieces. Textural, colourful and soulful, each symbolizes the possibility of crossing a seemingly impossible expanse of water, while bringing a softness and warmth to the home.

From the original painting, each of the collection’s five rugs provide a unique micro or macro view of the expansiveness of water. Together, these designs fuse cohesively as a collection, telling the story of the ocean through my perspective: the ocean Is a body that shifts, carries us through, and holds and projects light.

Red Dust

My two-decade study of the human form continues to inform my practice; here in the three-rug Red Dust series, the swooping, figurative lines offer a glimpse of humanity. The push and pull of figurative gestures move in and out of the frame, questioning the alchemy and chemistry of our human encounters.

Eden

The Eden collection was born from a forced moment of stillness: a retreat as Artist in Residence at Summit in Eden, Utah, where I observed and documented every sun-rise and sunset from my spot at the base of Powder Mountain.

Witnessing so intimately how the light hit the mountains in new ways every day inspired a series of thoughtful paintings, each with a telltale bronze streak slicing through the whites of snow and ice. It’s a documentation of nature, emotion and time.
